An Indian film fanatic rented an entire cinema to challenge a director's claim his film was too scary to watch alone.
Pavin Ponanna, 30, booked all 227 seats at a Bangalore multiplex for a screening of 'Phoonk', at a cost of 47,000 rupees ($1,250). He even told cinema staff to have a doctor on call, in case he was too frightened.
But after the screening Ponanna emerged grinning, saying: "I never felt scared, not even for a moment. I took just 10 minutes to settle down."
Phoonk follows the story of a happy family suddenly overcome by evil black magic. The director, Ram Gopal Verma, had challenged anyone to watch it on their own. Ponanna prepared for the chilling experience by visiting a temple.
I never felt scared, not even for a moment. I took just 10 minutes to settle down.
