Black Daniel - Hard Times On The Way...

3 months ago 21st Aug 15:42

Released September 8

Electro-Indie rockers Black Daniel release their debut album ‘Hard Times On The Way...’, on 8th September 2008.

Black Daniel consists of the London born brothers Liam and Luke May, and New York ex-pat Craig Louis Higgins Junior.

The siblings May, born and raised in London, are also known as seminal electro-house outfit Medicine 8. As DJs and producers they toured the world, pulling up at the world’s most celebrated clubs and intoxicating audiences with an eclectic bag of new sounds. A chance encounter at a New York night club introduced them to Craig Louis Jr, an influential club promoter respected for his club nights all over the city including Con-Fu-Sion at venues such as Filter 14 and Centro Fly. As if this wouldn’t keep him busy enough Craig also found time to work as a window-dresser at some of the city’s most respected fashion outlets. An immediate friendship was formed; Liam and Luke knew they had to get Craig over to London and into the studio to capture his unique way with words and quirky views on everyday life. And thus, Black Daniel was quickly formed.

Hard Times On The Way was set to be released in the UK last year just after they had returned from a European tour with Kasabian. But at the last minute it was pulled due to a devastating flood in the studio. The album had to be re-recorded. The outcome of the disaster gave rise to a whole new outlook and the trio relished the opportunity to perfect enhance their debut. It has resulted in this fresh and challenging depiction of life in the noughties.

The 11 track debut is an astonishing journey of musical forte, resulting in triumphant dancefloor energy and stylish swagger.
