Christopher Maloney's behaviour was branded "f***ing unacceptable" after he turned up one-hour late for rehearsals.

Sources claim 'The X Factor' executive producer Mark Sidaway "lost the plot" and subjected the Liverpool-born singer to a foul-mouthed rant because of his tardiness on Sunday (11.11.12), which left the 34-year-old hopeful "close to tears".

Christopher - whose cabaret-style singing has been the subject of criticism from the show's judges - was left so upset by the verbal bashing that he considered quitting the ITV1 talent show.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "This rant from Mark Sidaway was totally unfair.

"Chris walked in a few minutes late and he was swearing and being aggressive.

"Chris was banned from seeing his family before Sunday's show.

"It hurt him and made him consider if he should carry on. Others are late and nothing is said."

Christopher was also reportedly banned from seeing his family before the live performances last weekend, but insiders insist he is not being "singled out" for criticism.

A source added: "Chris was an hour late on Sunday and it is not the first time. Contestants often are unable to see their families due to rehearsal commitments. He is not being singled out."

An 'X Factor' spokesman said a conversation had taken place with Christopher because it was the fourth time he had turned up late for rehearsals.
