Channel 4 has commissioned a female version of 'The Inbetweeners' entitled 'Drifters'.

Three actresses who appeared in the movie version of the show - Lydia Rose Bewley, Jessica Knappett and Lauren O'Rourke - are set to appear in the comedy, which tells the tale of the girls trying to work out what to do with their lives while doing menial jobs in Leeds.

A Channel 4 spokesman told The Sun newspaper: "'Drifters' features three twentysomething women having their first experience of the real world -- making terrible decisions, but having a brilliant time doing it."

Executive Producer Iain Morris, who co-wrote 'The Inbetweeners', said: "We're delighted to be involved with Jess' sitcom. She is hysterically funny."

'The Inbetweeners' - starring Simon Bird, James Buckley and Joe Thomas - has been one of the most successful TV shows to have come from E4, with the spin-off film, directed by Ben Palmer, taking $45 million at the cinema.

A follow-up movie is being planned following the end of the comedy series, which told the story of a group of boys coming of age.
