Big musical acts are to appear on X Factor's Saturday night shows.
One Direction - who were put together on the talent search programme in 2010 - are being lined up to help boost ratings on the series, and will be the first of many music acts to take part in the show on a Saturday night instead of the traditional Sunday results shows.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Producers have known for some time they've had a problem with the main show and have decided to bring in chart-topping acts with a big following to boost ratings.
"If anyone can save the Saturday show, it is One Direction, with their massive following. They are the biggest X Factor act ever and everyone hopes they will bring some of their fans with them."
So far the likes of No Doubt, Emili Sande and Robbie Williams have performed on the Sunday, but many have also mentored the acts in scenes which are aired on the Saturday shows.
'X Factor' has long been in a ratings battle with the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing', which has been receiving exceptional viewing figures this year.
